Before you buy

Questions we are asked

The points people most often check before buying.

Are my audio and text sent to a server?

Audio and transcripts are not sent outside your computer. All AI features on Pro also run on your computer. No cloud AI is used. The situations that require a connection are summarized below under "Do I need an internet connection?".

Do I need an internet connection?

The model catalog is fetched from engines.sadola.dev at startup and every 24 hours while the app runs. There is no dedicated setting to stop this connection. App updates are checked once at startup; you can disable this in settings. Engine updates are checked and installed automatically at startup; you can disable the check and automatic installation separately. When needed, models are downloaded from Hugging Face, and llama and yt-dlp from their official GitHub releases. When you search for an AI model, the search query is sent to Hugging Face. License activation happens when you request it, with offline activation also available. When you start a trial, the app connects to api.sadola.dev. Notifications are fetched when you open them, and the license is re-checked only after that fetch. Feedback is sent only when you press Send; its body is what you write. Importing from YouTube (Pro) connects only when you request it. There are no automatic crash reports, usage statistics, or diagnostics uploads. Once the required engines and models are installed, transcription works offline. On Pro, speaker separation and all AI inference, including summaries, document creation, and chat, also run on your computer, without cloud AI.

Does a recording bot join my web meetings?

No. On Pro, tranext records the sound playing on your computer directly, so nothing needs to join the meeting as a participant.

How accurate is it?

It depends on the audio and on how people speak: microphone placement, background noise, and pace all change the result. You can choose High quality, Balanced, or Fast, or select a transcription model directly. The 7-day free trial is there so you can check it on your own recordings.

What kind of computer does it run on?

Supported platforms: Windows (x64), Linux (x64), macOS (Apple Silicon). Transcription and AI on Pro use an available GPU automatically, falling back to the CPU when needed. Pro speaker separation uses the GPU through WebGPU and falls back to the CPU when the GPU is unavailable.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Standard covers microphone recording and real-time transcription, importing files, transcription, editing, and exporting. Pro adds recording and real-time transcription of computer audio, per-process capture from a specific app, speaker separation, AI conversations and presets, AI document creation, adding a subtitle track to video, and importing from HTTPS YouTube URLs. Subtitle files can be exported on every plan.
